Hey I just built my own PC for the first time and I haven't gotten my monitor yet is there any way you can use your laptop as a monitor for a PC also where does everyone shop for their monitors. I'm looking for an acer 1751 but only place I see that caries it is tigerdirect.com

There's software you can use that lets you make a monitor attached to another computer on your network look like a second display on your computer.

But if you just mean plugging it in like an LCD monitor, no. I've never seen a laptop with VGA or DVI inputs that can directly drive the laptop's LCD panel.

Matthias is right. There are some rather cute network based setups; but you pretty much need a monitor to get those installed in the first place. You could, if really, really hard up, use TV out from the desktop to TV in on the laptop(if such exists); but quality would suck pretty seriously, and you might have serious trouble installing your OS over TV-out. You pretty much just have to get the monitor.
