I want to upgrade my CPU from an Athlon 1600XP to a Barton 2500. But my motherboard is a couple years old (Iwill XP333), and I don't think it supports the Barton. So, I was thinking about getting a new motherboard. Would I be able to keep my hard drives in tact (not format) if I put in a new motherboard? I am thinking about getting this one

your link doesn't work, but I can tell that you are looking at a a7n8x deluxe. From what I've heard, it's a great board. I have the Epox 8rda+ and love it. Either way, you'll be good to go.

Taking the HD's out and putting into a new system may cause some problems b/c your hd has the old mobo drivers on it.....It would be best if you put all the data that you want to keep on one HD, then format and install your OS on the other drive. Then add the 2nd drive later that has all your important data on it.

What OS? (no offense, but it's kind of obvious that this question would come up, isn't it?)

You can uninstall all old motherboard drivers and do a repair install through the Windows XP boot-up menu.

Yup. put your CD in and boot from it like you're going to install it, then just tell it you want to repair a Win XP installation. It'll look like it's reinstalling your entire OS (which it kind of is), but it'll leave your programs and data there. Good stuff.
