Sorry if this has been covered but I wasn't sure what to search for.

Anyway, I have a ZyXEL P330W, and a Netgear WGR614 connected to my cable modem. What I'd like to do is use the ZyXEL as an access point in order to extend the range of my wireless network. Is it possible to do this without plugging my ZyXEL into my Netgear with a cable? Thanks in advance.

It all depends on the zyxel. Some wireless routers can act as a client device, some can't.
Google <your router model> client or bridge and take a look at what comes up.

Nah, it is a plain Vanilla unit does not do WDS, or Client.

Low end wireless routers & access points that will work as a wireless range extender are pretty rare & rarer still are range extenders that will work with routers which arn't made by the same company. I havn't looked in awhile, but it used to be that Linksys range extenders would only work with certain Linksys routers for example.
The one company's bridges I've installed and gotten working as effective range-extenders with multiple brands of routers was Hawking & as I recall they were pretty expensive too, however I used them with Linksys, Belkin, D-Link & Motorola routers.

Here's a thread from dslreports.com about how one guy got his P-330W working as an access point.
