Possible to use both vocal cords

Is it possible to use both sets of vocal cords to basically make two voices at once come out, and if so, anyone know someone who can do it?

Saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose and it said in there that it was, and I am curious as how someone learns how to do that... be an awesome little trick 😛
 
Two vocal cords... wouldn't you be using them both simultaneously continuously? Chances are they're controlled by the same nerves and wouldn't be separable, but who knows. Google it!
 
Well, they're probably controlled by such a low-level system that it would be impossible to separate them. You never know though.

Maybe some type of eastern guru could do it - like those that can just about stop their heart by thinking about it. I don't know anyone like that though, although my old karate teacher said he could kind of do it.

Please explain - I was only aware of their being 1 pair (which operate acoustically, and anatomically as a single unit)
 
THe movie explained it as there are one set for high pitch, one set for low. And it is possible to activate both at once and speak basically with two voices at once coming from your mouth.
 
I have heard that there is a type of singing where one person sings two notes at once and generates harmony. I have a friend who was listening to a mongolian group that supposedly did this ancient form of singing. I could ask him for info and let yall know, but he is damn near impossible to reach. I'll have to get back to ya.

when I was sick with a bad cold, i could talk with two tones at the same time. Then a few days later, I couldnt talk at all for 2 days.
 
I think google is a waste of time, I've been trying for about 2 hours using different phrases, I think the only way to figure it out would be to find out what these monks are called if they exist....

er.. not a waste of time, but I think theres too much information on google for anyone to sift through....
 
In choir during college we did one song one year that involved several students doing throat singing, sounding very much like the above mp3. If I can remember or find out the name of the song I'll post it.
 
My teacher said he had a roommate in college that sang 2 pitches at the same time. One through his mouth and one through his nose or something.
