Possible to transfer...

Hey guys, I was wondering if it was still possible to transfer to another college from mine without having to wait until the end of next year. I'm figuring probably not, since most schools list something around March as the application deadline, but would schools do mid year transfers? Or for that matter, will colleges ever accept transfer applications well after the transfer date? In high school I was top 5% of my class, 1430 on the SAT, around 700 on all three SAT 2's I took, and in college I've kept a good (A-) GPA. Additionally, I'm currently working on several research projects with professors.

Coming out of high school I was fairly depressed, and didn't accept any of the admissions to the better schools I got into because I wasn't sure if I'd be a first semester dropout or not, and just looking back it's a decision I wish I hadn't made.

Oh, and though I didn't originally apply to college as it, I'm half Puerto Rican, which from what I've heard is pretty much a guarantee of instant acceptance into any college with the kind of academic success I have, so I was wondering if I could use that as leverage to get the missed deadline thing overlooked.

I think it may depend on the school because I had a friend that change midway in a year. I would also check to see what will transfer. Nothing is worse then having to retake 1/2 your classes.

Depends completely on the school.

Some colleges have rolling admissions on the transfer, sometimes you can only transfer into certain programs in either the Fall or Spring (not both), and others have a set deadline.

Ya I've never had problems transferring between schools at whatever time, just as long it was before a semester started or whatever. Definitely check for transfer of credits, and also their graduation requirements and if you can still meet the required credits etc for the school you'll be transferring to.

Any examples? All the ones I've seen appear to have a set deadline in March, with a few in early April.

depends on the school.

The major universities in texas had a deadline of march 1 or march 15. The lower tiered universities (like UT San Antonio, UT Arlington, etc) have their deadlines June 1 or July 1, depending on the school

Ah, well I'm already going to what would probably be considered a lower to mid tiered university, so if anything I'd want to try to transfer up, not sideways.
Mostly, my school is primarily a commuter school and an education majors school and I'm neither so campus life is a little on the non-existent side and what there is doesn't tend to involve social crowds I'm comfortable with. No problem with the people, just awkward having classes with only a handful of people and not really any other ways of meeting people on campus due to a lack of social activities available.
