Possible to run Sims 2 @ 1680x1050?

Has anyone else had any trouble running The Sims 2 at 1680x1050? I've tried running it on my girlfriend's Dell laptop. I couldn't get 1680x1050, but there was, at least, one 16:10 option, which is more than what I can get on my machine.

Any thoughts?
