Possible to patch in a larger LCD screen to a caller ID box?

Hello,
My mother has some trouble seeing the caller ID screen on our new phone. I was thinking that I could get one of those old school caller ID boxes from when CID just came out, remove the LCD, and patch in a larger LCD screen. Is is possible that the LCD communication pinout is the same? Is this something that I can de-integrate from the PCB easily? I've set up a VFD on my PC to display what songs I'm listening to, etc. but that was a fairly simple serial connection. Is there somewhere on the board that I can get the LCD data in a Motorola or Intel format for an LCD, real easy like? Thanks!

Ugh... probably not worth it. The pinouts/interfaces are unlikely to match unless you can figure out which manufacturer made the LCD display.

I'm pretty sure you can get CID boxes/devices with larger displays, though.

Edit: 30 seconds on google found this... they have a bunch of ones with larger text display. Unless you want like foot-tall characters or something...

They also have ones that you can program to say the caller's name (if it's a number you have stored).

Looks like Radioshack carries one, too, but I'm not sure how big its display is.

D'oh, I only looked on ebay. Too bad those are fairly expensive, though. Thanks.
