Oh, I get so much fat cooked out of my bacon that I dump this fat in the sink.

How do you define RAW bacon? I could eat mine without cooking if I wanted to.

P.S. I burned some of my bacon in pic above, dammit!

bacon has so much fat in it that you don't need oil.

raw bacon would be the 1 minute cooked bacon that you have. bacon in a pan needs to be cooked low and slow for 10 to 15 minutes (never actually timed it)

I recently fried up 2 pounds of bacon that I thought had been in the freezer long enough (trying to use it before freezer burn sets in).

We didn't use that much... so I just stuffed the rest in a zip-top freezer bag (that's all we had in the gallon size) and stuck it in the fridge.

Used it for the next week on sammiches or bagles. Just took 30 sec in microwave to heat it back up.

To fry bacon I start with a dry pan, since the bacon creates it's own grease/oil.

However, by the end of the frying process, I'm usually deep frying bacon in it's own grease, since I don't drain the pan.

We always get thick cut, smoked, "bulk" bacon. (Bulk meaning not the prepackaged stuff...but the stuff from the butcher... also not meaning alternator sized :p).

There's a place by us that sells a "double smoked" bacon.... OMG.... I need a moment. :D

Get a bacon press. It's a heavy cast iron weight you put on the bacon while frying. Over high heat, it should only take about 2-4 minutes.

nothing is better than cooking bacon inside and being able to smell sweet sweet bacon for 2 days.
I hang bacon from my car's rear view mirror.

fixed

That's damn funny. :D

Yeah, I heard it smokes too much when cooking bacon though. But man, what an alarm clock ;)

I prefer mine cooked on the stovetop over medium heat :)

Bake your bacon in the oven (Alton Brown has an episode on how to do that). The oven contains the grease and makes bacon that is nice and flat instead of wrinkled and jumbled up. Makes for awesome bacon.

I remember that episode, I'll have to try that! But it takes away the crinkly fun :(

Great ideas all around in this tread. It's often nice to have extra bacon around for sandwiches or burgers and what not.

The only thing that makes bacon better is to wrap it in bacon.

What about bacon wrapped butter?

They sell individuall wrapped sausages but they don't sell individually wrapped bacon?

No, it's not possible. Pre-cooked bacon is bacon that has already been cooked when you buy it.

In Georgia I've heard they serve fatbacks in restaurants.

It's battered deep fried bacon with country gravy to dip it in. If I'm ever on death row this is what I'm having as a last meal.

WTF is that? Looks damn tasty if it wasn't for all that stupid ketchup! That shit is haggered.

Bacon FTW

I never buy the uncooked stuff cause I normally don't feel like taking the time and having to wash the pan just to fry up a few slices that can get eaten in less than a minute. I buy the precooked stuff from time to time and it is damn good but a bit pricey.

Thanks for the thread... I should buy a pound and fry it up and put it in the fridge for the week.

Kaido - increasing your epenis? err I mean postcount? FIVE posts one after another? Notion for vacation to learn quoting skillz.

Jhill - I like ketchup :) In high school I was deprived of it, they would only let me buy 2 or 3 small bags with my cheezeburger...so now I got half gallon bottle of ketchup in my fridge and pur it down freely!

duragezic - Yep it was tasty, even with ketchup ;)

A bit pricey? Isn't precooked bacon in the neighborhood of $30/pound?
