This is 2nd year Linear Algebra so it's more heavily based on ideas and theorems than computation. Is it possible to cram 6-8 weeks worth (some are review from 1st year) into a weekend? I noticed the proofs are pretty short so concept wise, is it really difficult to get a good grasp of the materials in such a short span of time?

P.S. I can list the topics that needed to be crammed.

Sure. Just don't procrastinate over the weekend and stay focused and you shouldnt have a problem.

It's so difficult to understand some of the concepts because we're no longer talking about a finite matrix. Got any tips for studying?

Yes. There are only a few concepts in the class. If you're good at math, you can pretty much get the gist of it.

And for the average schmuck who is happy with a C? :) I'm sure the exam next week will be 95% proofs.

Uhhh, why don't you get off of ATOT right now and start studying?? Then, you'll have more than one weekend to study.

(duh)

Now, since you required someone to tell you that, I'm assuming you're not of the caliber of student to be able to learn 6-8 weeks worth of Linear Algebra in one weekend... which reinforces my first statement. Get off the computer and start studying.

Now that's what I call good advice!

Sure it is.....I did an entire semester of Organic Chemistry in one weekend for the final....enough to get a B.....I even surprised myself.

I did the same thing the past two days, for first year linear algebra. The exam was easy, but I hadn't done enough of the work to take a solid run at it. Hopefully got a 60.

If it was computations, yes you could.
If it's proofs, you won't have the mental capacity to let them all sink in over a weekend. It's not like memorizing the steps, especially if these are relatively difficult proofs as you describe them.

Sure its just algebra most people deal with that as a freshman in highschool.

linear algebra...not algebra

Yeah that makes it even easr he doesn't need to learn the quadritc formular;)

exactly..if its proofs then it'll be insanely difficult, but if its computations then it could be ok. Just skim though each of the chapters that you need to know and do maybe the first 5 problems at the end of the chapters. If you can do the problems easily then at least you may do well enough to pass.

Good luck!!!!
