Possible to buy SATA to 4prong Drive Adapter?

I just put together a new system and the case does not allow me to put the HDD and my DVD-RW on same IDE channel. (The mobo only has one IDE plug).

But my mobo has 4 SATA drives.
My DVD-RW is not SATA. Neither is my HDD.

Can I a cord that is SATA on one end (Would plug into my mobo) to 4 prong power on the other (Would go into my DVD-RW).

Ideas? Or maybe a really long IDE with lots of space between Master/Slave?

Something that would look like this,

EDIT: I also have one of these,

--But I don't know what this does because the black end does not fit into anything on my mobo :0

When you say "4 prong" I assume you mean a standard Molex 4 pin power connector? If so, then the asnwer is yes. There are converters for that. And, some SATA drives have both SATA and Molex power ports.

Your photo is such a converter.

The photograph is a power adapter, going from a "standard" 4-pin Molex connector (present on all power supplies for the last 20 years) to a SATA drive's power connector. It connects between the power supply and a drive, not to the motherboard.

You can turn a Mobo that does Not have SATA to be able to support SATA, but you can not turn a None SATA CD-ROM or IDE HD to become SATA devices.

If the Drives are Not SATA type it is not a matter of cords, you need to buy SATA devices.

If the trouble with the current devices has to do with the length of the IDE cable you can buy longer cable that would have more space between the master and the salve connectors.

This is completely untrue, there are plenty of SATA/IDE converters available.

As hippie pointed out this http://www.satacables.com/html/sata-acessories.html plugs in to a 44 PIN IDE (PATA) connection and allows you to use SATA cables. And you can get the exact opposite as well: http://www.cooldrives.com/satoidecofor.html

JT, your pics are the same, and I believe what you're looking for is a 2 device IDE cable.
OR, you could convert your IDE drive to SATA.

The 2 device device IDE cable. Does that plug into the SATA plug in on the mobo? It looks like a regular IDE to me, I'm kind of a noob 🙂

the IDE drive to SATA would work, although its a bit pricey 😀 Does anyone know where I can get it with free shipping?

sata to ide converters are like $10 at some stores. they do work, its a sata bridge chip, probably jmicron or something...

ide channels only support 2 devices, there are no cables with more than 2 plugs. and yesyou can get a sata to 4 pin adapter, most boards even come with them now
