I have a LiteOn 16X CD burner w/ Nero 5.5 in Win98SE with a 1 ghz Tbird system. I have a 830 MB avi file that I'd like to burn onto a CD as-is or by converting it to VCD (Nero does this), but am wondering if this is possible with overburn. I have Imation 16X CDR's. Winzip only reduced it by a couple of mb.

If this isn't possible, is there software that can break up the large AVI file into two smaller files? I am trying to delete this file from the "kid's" small hard drive but don't want to incur their wrath if I do it without putting onto CD's.

Thanks in advance.

Copper,

I do belive that it is not possible to put 830MB on a CDR. Most ever I have been able to do is 802MB. Look for a proggy called AVIchop or something like that.

Also check out the link as it may have info available there as well.

Linky !

Hope this helps :)

Well if your burner supports overburn then you may be able to do it. Your best bet would be to get some 90/99 minute cd-rs methinks.

how long is it? maybe you can convert it to mpeg and then burn it as a vcd? VCD's are mode 2 discs and the only thing u need to worry about it being within the limits...i.e. 74mins or 80mins...no matter the size in megs.
