I just gained posession of my Grandparent's old computer and there is something strange going on when the computer reboots. When you shut down and reboot from the start menu, the computer will shut down, but it will not turn back on. You can hit the switch in the front, and the light will go on, even the cd-rom light goes on, but there is no activity from the HD, or any signs that it is working. I finally figured my way around this by unplugging the power, then plugging it back in. It will start up if this is done, but only this works. I am wondering if this could be due to the power supply?

Thanks,

Oh my bad. Its a Dell Dimension L700cx. From what I can find it has..

Intel Celeron 700mhz
128mg Ram
10gig Hard Drive

I really couldn't tell you what sort of mobo is in this. Windows ME is currently installed, and I will definitely get it off there as soon as I can work this problem out. I was going to test out a different power supply in it but it didn't have the correct "P2" adaptor that goes in the mobo..

Thanks

Woah lol thats old stuff. Your PSU is a good bet and I would take the one out thats in your pc and get another to try it. Other than this prob your pc boots and runs? A lot of possibilities here. What OS ya runnin? So many factors lol.

omg get Win ME off there asap! Worst OS of all time :D

I'd take a trip down to the store and get an adapter so you CAN try out your other PSU. Your PSU is the best bet as to being your problem here.

Ok I have an update to this problem. I went out and found an Antec SmartPower 350w PSU that had the proper connectors I needed. Plugged everything in, hit the power and.... nothing. No response from the PC whatsoever. The monitor will turn on (or come out of standby) when the PSU is plugged in, but nothing. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
