Hi folks. Got this reply from someone who needs help before he can join us. Hopefully someone has an answer that will solve his problem and allow that. :)

"I have an Abit BE6-2 and a Celeron 2 566@850. The temperature monitoring software on the cd does not work in Win2k. I have tried motherboard monitor 4.? and cannot get it to work.

If you can help me out and get some kind of monitoring system working, I will gladly help. I don't want to be running at 100% CPU load (being overclocked and all) if I can't monitor my temps."

In the meantime, I suggested he checked Abit's main site for an updated version of the monitoring software or maybe looked at the new bioses available to see if such a fix was posted.

Cheers all. :)

Hey folks. This person is me.

I do need to update the bios, but I have not found a new version (of motherboard monitor) anywhere on the abit site. I even went to several different ftp (mirror sites) to see. If anybody can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

I was cracking for a while on my own under Team Anandtech, but then upgraded to Win2K and I won't go bcak to 98... :)

I will try updating the bios tonight and will get back in touch. If you have any other ideas please shoot them my way.

Hi Chuffmaster2k,

I have a Cel2-600 at 902 on a BE6-R2. I use a Golden Orb for cooling. That system runs 24/7 and I do not run a Windows based temp monitoring program. The BIOS has that capability, but it has never given any indication of a problem. I am big on FANs, with Enlight 7237 case I have 1 front bottom, 1 rear, 1 slot and a tripple-fan HD cooler in additon to the PS fan. Unless you have had to jack up the voltage more than 10% and don't have good cooling, I wouldn't worry about it. Let the BIOS handle it!

Good luck and welcome back! :):D

I had this same problem, only at 950 before I sold that board, I was completely unable to get MM to work in Win2k, so what I did was check the boot up temps and anticipate that the hotest it would get was 10c higher then that. In the bios you can set an alarm to go off when it exceeds a certain temp and to shut down when it reaches another, I believe they are set to 70c and 75c by default.

Just installed MBM 5.03 on my Athlon 700. Looks like a dandy piece of work this time. Running great on Win2K Pro.

The help is very well documented with detailed setup instructions and a reference to the website for MoBo settings. :)
