*Possible* New 470 Benchmarks

Same as last round with the gtx 260 vs 4870. Nvidia's 2nd tier vs ATi top single card.
It looks like we can expect the same this round.
The question now is, how much faster is the gtx480 , and how much are these puppies gonna cost?

Anyone care to speculate?

You're probably right. The GTX470 may be about equal with the 5870, but it has more memory (1.28GB vs. 1GB) and higher bandwidth (320bit vs. 256bit), so it should have an edge at the highest resolutions/settings.

The GTX480 should be about ~15-20% faster than the GTX470.

I would worry more about it's cost, if it performs close to the 5870, it should be priced around $400. But my guess these will sell for ~$500 and ~$650 for the GTX480.

Of course you get the awesome PhysX and an Nvidia logo on the box, so you have to pay more 🙂

Your avatar does not compute. /boggle

Edit: Ha, nm, those are the spy vs spy guys. Thought they were actually trying to be nice to each other.

If the gtx470 is not $399 or less MSRP at launch, it will be disappointing. If that price is in line, then the gtx480 will likely be $549 to $579, or about $150 cheaper than an hd5970.

I totally agree,

Give me a gtx 470 for about 350$, and I'm buying.
If not, crossfire 5770 with 5750 (5870 performance) here I come for 160$.

Am I missing something about the 10.3 cats? Are they bad or something? Why are people upset over the benches using them?

Let me get this straight. You're criticizing people in the other thread because they're speculating about Fermi's specifications and yet you would pull the trigger for $350 without knowing how the card actually performs? Do you happen to have some secret numbers because I can't see anything but a poorly made fake benchmark which spelled Catalyst wrong.

Frankly, I've nothing against speculations but I don't like hypocrites.

I thought the source was a foreign web site which doesnt have English as a 1st languge and therefore probably spell it differently....
And to be honest, I'd rather a $350 GTX470 than a $350 5870 too!
