NoVA is getting way to expensive for me and I have an opportunity in SA. I noticed you can get a nice house for around 250k. What is it like living there? I know it will be hot, but what about night life, music scene? I play drums and would like to find other musicians in the area when I move. Also how is the crime?

Positives of moving to SA ... well, I've never been there, but I hear it is low-key, and hey, they've got the SPURS! ;)

It all depends on what side of town you're gonna live on for crime. Night life, ehh, it's nothing like Austin. Where is the job located and I can tell you some really nice neighborhoods in the area, etc.

I think it will be in the northern part.

How north is north? I work over by 1604&281 and there are some really nice houses out here. Traffic sucks though.

I have to leave at a certain time every morning and get to work 20 mins early. If I'm even 10 minutes late leaving my house at that specific time it'll equate into being 20-25 minutes late.

traffic definitely isn't as bad as DC, dallas or houston...

250k will get you A LOT of house here.
paid 170k for mine.. half acre, 4 bed/2bath (2100 sq ft)about 8 miles north of the city limits.

nightlife is getting better but Austin is the place you want to be if you're single - or you could drive up there in ~1 hour or so.

crime isn't so bad if you're in the right area. it's a great place to live.. low cost of living, (hotter than he||, though), diverse, pluse we have FIESTA week.

if you like mexican food.. we have the best... plenty of 'mom & pop' restaurants.

you won't see many 4-star restaurants here... but there has been an influx of nicer ones lately, though.

if i was single, i don't think i'd live out 281 & 1604 area... a little south of there, i would... near loop 410 and 281(this is where i lived when singel). that way, you have easy access to the entire city. centrally located and easy access to major highways that'll get you anywhere in 30 minutes.

Man speaks the truth. I've been in SA all of my life and I've always lived near Sea World area. It sucks because you are kinda far from everything. Don't move out in that area though, houses are going up too fast in this area and it will be crowded soon. They are nice houses for attractive prices but hell, 1604 is still 1 lane both ways and there is nothing out here but subdivisions. Traffic is a pain in this area too.

They're better than the property tx here in VA. I'm getting raped.
