Well, I came across a local newspaper and it says David Oreck comes to Broaday...
Grand Opening of the first Oreck Factory Showroom in the Big Apple on Broadway and 68th st, and showrooms in manhattan Bed bath Beyond locations....

He's doing signings and personal appearances throughout the city... I should say DID as it was this the weekend.

I saw the paper today after having it since friday...

It doesn't list how long this will last, but for 12.99, one per customer and while supplies last, you get their ZIP Vac Ultra, a $45 value.

I had family get one today.... just tried it... pretty good.. then it died out in its 4th minute.. reading the manual, sure enough you need to charge it for minimum 12hrs the first time.

I'll give it a full test tomorrow, but for 12.99 before tax, with a flashlight on it... not bad. I haven't tried others out there in the last 10yrs so I can't compare its power.
 
While this particular unit may be well worth it for the money, my personal opinion is that Oreck is the Bose of the vacuum cleaner industry -- all hype and marketing.
 
lol i recommend calling their locations to see if they still have stock. i think they do because it wasn't overly advertised. the other thing is maybe the deal is over. but for 12.99 it is a deal, you won't get any vac for this price new. i agree, i read their site and what they are about, they do seem like the bose of the vacuums.
