Possible hard drive problem?

I bought a new 60 GB 5400 RPM Western Digital hard drive at Best Buy this morning since they had the $50 after rebate deal. The drive appears to work just fine when accessing data and programs, but for some reason whenever I try to change partitions or access partition info through PTMagic, the drive doesn't make it's normal electronic clicking noise like hdd's do. It makes this weird, high-pitch "chirping" noise. The noise isn't all that loud, but it's making me paranoid despite the fact that the drive works just fine along with that noise. Is there something wrong with my drive?

Edit: I'm using Windows XP and NTFS partitions. I have one primary NTFS partition, and an extended with three logical partitions formatted NTFS. It only seems to do this on the first partition...
