i have a 13gb boot drive with my win 98se OS installed, along with all my other applications. my D drive is a 120gb. it seems that when i try and copy (large) files between the two drives, it will freeze up. i wrote a quick proggie that does a one byte at a time transfer, and it does fine, it just takes forever. Im not sure which drive is at fault, but the transfer rate with my program registers at only 4kbps. I know because of limitations of the program, its max speed is 70kbps, but 4k is just sad. also, when ripping a CD to mp3s on my D drive, i will get a BSOD saying "cannot write to drive D, data may be lost...blah blah" im currently running scandisk on it( D drive, standard and surface scan), and ill see how that comes out.
edit: could this problem be in my settings at all?
another edit: scandisk made it as far as the 1200th cluster in the data section of the surface scan before the light got pegged, and it froze up.
