possible for neck injury in 5mph bumper to bumper?

assuming both drivers were driving similar style cars and both drivers dont have prior injuries to the neck (healthy,) would a 5mph bump into a stopped car of the same style (SUV/SUV, CAR/CAR) result in any neck injury?

seatbelts on

Not likely but it could. I've wrenched my neck just turning it quick. Sometimes the muscles just pull a little funny and it can do weird things. If they were looking some other direction or had their muscles tensed they could have wrenched their neck and pulled a muscle. I doubt they would have any long term effects but you never know, some of those injuries are hard to predict.

its just a theory question. i think: if the passenger had his head in the "normal" position: looking forward, seatbelt on, head not neat steering wheel or windows, head within 2-6 inches of headrest there should be no neck injuries.. what do u guys think?

It could happen if the person is sitting with their body and head all the way back and the headrest position is too low.

shit happens. Anything is possible. A while back a professor got into a low speed fender bender with airbag deployment. She was wearing her seatbelt but apparently the airbag stopped her heart.

All depends, primarily on if the headrest is improperly adjusted. And if your seatbelt is not properly positioned.

assuming headrest is right behind head in propper position, and seatbelt is across chest and shoulder in proper position
