Possible Feature?

This may have been requested in the past but I dont recall seeing it.

In the For Sale/Trade Forum, is there any way to sort/search on the seller's location? A lot of times on bigger items (monitors, computer systems, etc) I would be more likely to make a purchase/trade if shipping (and heatware since it is happening in person) was not an issue. Even if we could see city/state in posts without clicking into every profile it would be an improvement.

I really dont know how this could be accomplished in the forum or someone else might have a better idea.

Thanks,
-MC

Maybe if we had a column in the For Sale/Trade thread selection screen between Replies and Originator called Location.

1) The mods will be here soon to say, "It won't be happening"
2) That would require a change in the FuseTalk software. Go talk to e-Zone Media.

Check HERE for a map with locations for ALOT of the users that frequent the FS/T forum; it may not be exactly what you're asking for, but it may be of some help to you and others. 🙂

EDIT: Doh! The map picture isn't showing up.. gotta email Thisismatt about this. 😱 I just emailed him. 🙂

Can we not at least place the location in the posts themselves under the joined date? I think I have seen that on a FuseTalk forum.

How hard is it to click the profile? The purpose of the FS/FT rule stating your location must be shown in your profile helps. Having location under your post count is just more useless information located under your handle along with your post count and joined date

You are correct, RagingBITCH, however, such a listing or map such as Thisismatt had made available would be of especially good use to people just starting out in the FS/T forums - people may want to deal only with others closer to home, figuring it's easier to track someone down if there's a problem. 😉 Besides, if you can find buyers/sellers/traders in your own area, you can make deals and not have to deal with shipping if you're close enough.

Regardless of its merit, I'm almost certain it'll get a "It won't be happening."

I see your point but in either case, a person still has to use the Search page or manually look through every FS/FT page to find the item he/she wants, then click on that page - you wouldn't know their location until they did that anyway, and clicking just one more time to view a profile won't kill anyone.

That's cool. The answer is obviously That wont be happening. I was just suggesting something to make peoples' lives a little easier.

BTW, If people never improved things just because the current way "won't kill anyone", then where would we be?

They use to have this feature enabled on AT, but was abused with messages such as 'p0rn is teh r0x0r'.
