Possible Doom3 Specs.

Seems odd though.
The 9800 & 5800 & 5900s are the optimal spec video cards, yet the 9700 is only the standard spec. Thats a bit daft, considering that the 9800pri is only about 10-15% faster than a 9700pro, and the 5800 is around the same speed, sometimes slower than the 9700pro.

Take these specs with a grain of salt guys/gals.
They may or may not be the final specs, but i`d say that they`re about right.

The cpu specs are Intel I'm sure. There aren't too many 2.8ghz athlons. Do you guys think upgrading to a gig of ram would be a good idea?

I thought Carmack was aiming for Radeon 8500 and GF3 video card specs? I might be thinking of something else.....

source google translation:

No notion how often we already over the hardware requirements of Doom 3 wrote. 8000 times or 20,000 times actually all the same or? This times are again new data a demo emerged on several systems ran. I wrote and try times all information together now Anna-honouring system requirements to write. Minimum: CCU: 800MHZ? 1GHZ (will be hardly less probably) diagram map: Geforce 3 TI/ATI 9600 pro (a G2 will be here in any case too few) RAM: 256 MT RAM (with so little RAM it will come surely from time to time, to a Ruckler; Load times likewise highly) standard: CCU: 1,7GHZ? 2GHZ (liquid playing on middle details with a 800*600 dissolution) diagram map: Geforce 4 TI 4400/4600/ATI 9700/Pro RAM: 512 MT RAM (no Ruckler; Load times nevertheless somewhat longer however surely not unreal 2 like😉) Optimally: CCU: 2,5GHZ? 2.8 GHZ (with as much CPU power liquid will play with max. Detail and a 1024*X dissolution without problems possible its) diagram map: Geforce 5800FX/5900FX/ATI 9800Pro RAM: 786? 1024MB-Ram (no Ruckler and beautiful short load times) clear that are rather estimations as actual facts! But we believe nevertheless that the requirements in somewhat so will look. On merry rigging:-D

Nothing more than guesses, funny none of the main english speaking sites seem to have mentioned a new tech demo...

He was but they're going to be the bare minimum you'll want to game on (probably 30 FPS at 800 x 600 x 32).

Bare minimums never produce good gameplay.

Ive gotta admit, some of the "specs" are a bit wierd. The 9600 should be mid range. The 9700/pro should be optimum.

thats because theyre bullshit. anyone here can come up with guesses at least as good as those, and of equal value. Just because it's on a webpage doesnt mean there's anything behind it. The translation even says its only a guess, despite saying a "new demo" has been ran on several systems, even though NO other site seems to know of another doom3 demo, the first of which was only (afaik) seen by the biggest tech sites (thg, anandtech and hardocp). a second one only being given to some obscure german site seems a tad unlikely.

Hey, the D3 full will probably be demonically fast on a R9700pro with a P4 2.4C. Have you seen the alpha? It's unoptimized, yet pretty quick for an alpha. And speed can only improve then. I've never seen a realistic pre-release FPS sys-req. chart before. They are always overkills.
