Possible desktop corruption issue, not sure

Ok, to make it short: in XP Pro, I have noticed the last few weeks that parts of text occaisonally looks bold, but when I scroll down and up again, or minimize and maximize the window again, it returns to normal. Other times, parts of black text looks slightly blue, and will flip back to total black again. I have seen graphical anomalies in only one game, and it has been the same problem in that game since the beginning :p. That isn't important, however.

The worrying thing to me is this: it happens in ANY operating system. I use linux and, just for kicks, I put a fresh install of one I don't use on it, SuSE Linux 9. The text did the same thing as in Windows XP Pro, the linux version I also use (Gentoo Linux), Fedora Core 1 and 2, Linux Mandrake 9.2 and 10.0, and SuSE linux. I backup my stuff each night, so experimenting like that is possible. For good measure, I put things back to their defaults in the BIOS, and I also do not overclock my video card, a GeForce4 Ti4200 from BFG Tech. The next possibility for me is to hook up a different monitor to see if the issue occurs again, or to put that graphics card in the other PC, because there is aboslutely NO software causing this issue. It is highly irritating as well. I would like to point out that my monitor is a 7 year old Gateway 2000 CrystalScan 700, so it isn't the top-of-the-line model of CRT at the moment, but it has crisp images and text. If it isn't the graphics card, I am leaning towards the monitor.

Temperature readings @ stock 2500+ Speeds:
CPU: 99.3 Fahrenheit
Motherboard: ~80 Fahrenheit
HDD can give a reading and I can show you that if you need it.

Temperatures @ 3200+ overclocked speeds:
CPU: 105.8 Fahrenheit
Motherboard: ~80 Fahrenheit again

I do not overclock the RAM either. The cooling has never ever been a problem in this case, as it is also obviously well ventilated too. If anyone can help me out, i'd be greatful! I have a lifetime warranty with this video card from BFG, and they offer free support too...perhaps I should call?

Try putting the video card in another system, or putting another video card into your current system. It sounds like the video card, since you see corrupted text. If it was the monitor, I would imagine it would not belimited to just text, you would probably see corruption in many elements of your screen. Good luck!

I am doing that soon.

Does anyone know how to switch from APIC to PIC? I recall reading somewhere how to do that w/o a fresh install of XP Pro as a requirement, and it did work fine once before. That didn't have to do with video, though.
