Im pretty experienced with BIOS flashes, having down probably close to 100 flashes in the past 3 years. However I attempted updating my Asus CUSL2 with:

ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIOS/Socket_370/INTEL_Chipset/i815e/CUSL2/1003.zip
CUSL2 1003 Final

&

ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIOS/BIOS_FLASH_UTILS/asusupd327.exe
The Windows flasher.

The flashing procedure seemed to go ok, with no errors. I was prompted to reboot and when doing so, nada, nowt. The PC does not start up.

Im currently hoping removing the battery and starting up the board on its internal vga might bring it back up. If anyone has encountered this problem before, let me know, thanks.

You flashed from 1001A to 1003 and have no video on restart? This is a known issue, and you should have read the information regarding this BEFORE you flashed.

ASUS's site says this:

Notice:
If you are going to upgrade BIOS from BIOS version 1001.A (and earlier) for CUSL2 or 1002.A
(and earlier) for CUSL2-M, please make sure the following item in the BIOS setup menu is set
at [PCI/AGP] before updating the BIOS.

Advanced -> PCI Configuration -> VGA BIOS Sequence

In case the system is unable to start up properly after performing BIOS upgrade, please
remove all the add-on VGA adapters from the system and start up the system with the onboard
AGP graphics controller or clear CMOS. The add-on VGA adapters then can be installed after loading the
setup default from the BIOS setup menu.

Easiest is to either short the CLRTC short points on the motherboard, or pull the BIOS battery.

I see. My bad.

I did remove the battery + my geforce DDR, and had no luck to be honest, i'll try shorting out the gate as you suggested...

Ok sorted.

Cleared CMOS with a screwdriver (no bloody clear cmos jumper and couldnt be bothered soldering), and everythings hunky-dory. Thanks anyway.
