Possible $45 Maxtor 40gb (PM+MIR) - Best Buy

I just got Micro Centers newest circular in the mail today, and they have:

Maxtor DiamondMax+ 7200RPM 40GB Hard Drive for $94.99


Best Buy has a 40gb maxtor for $129, with a $30MIR and a $20 gift card, so essentially you pay $80+tax (and have to recycle $20 more into best buy)

But if you PM with micro center, you can possibly get the drive for $45 after rebates and the gift card.

the only possible problem, is that micro center is advertising the diamondmax+ drive, when the one on BB's website just says "maxtor".

Are there any model numbers in the ad?
the newer model D740X is aka Diamond Max Plus, says up there on the homepage.
I live 3 miles away, running there to pick up a flyer🙂
 
uhm, it has the numbers "428714" next to the price

the micro center ad is advertising an ata133 drive, i think best buys is ata100.. but if they arent picky about that then you can get a deal

 
Just picked up the drive for ~$92.47, the model number is the same on both drives.
Walnut Hill, Dallas, Tx is out, I got the last one.
I'm sure the other store locations around here still has alot😛

right, but i was just looking at bestbuy.com and they dont have the 133, and the packaging is different

so i figured it might be tougher to pricematch

 
just got back from best buy, it worked!

they rang it up at $94.99, and the rebates started printing out.. the guy says "you got a bunch of rebates too.. holy sh*t, $50 in rebates? wow"

i laughed a little bit and walked out with my drive 🙂



 
I managed to get this also. The stupid clowns at BestBuy wanted to take the UPC Barcode off the box so I couldn't get the rebates. Had to ask for the big muckymuck to get my rebate slips. Took about 15 minutes but for a 40 gig Maxtor for $50 incl. tax and after rebates, it was worth it.

edit: is the BB gift card instant? If so I'll pick up AI DVD 😀😀😀!
 
This only works with the 12 states that have a Micro Center BM store. It might even have to be in the same city. They don't have a micro center in florida 🙁
 
damn...punk cs wouldn't give it to me...said bb's price after rebate would be almost the same. i argued for 15 mins, but he would only go down to $114, saying after bb's rebate, it would be less than microcenter's price. guess i'll try a different bb tomorrow.
