Glad he did not go to the Saints, Moss is locker room cancer

As oppose to the cancer that is the saints, your team will get beaten again, and again; and the hits will keep on coming, and coming; and your players will drop more, and drop more.

I believe Moss has matured.

Also as numerous stories have said, this is a low risk high reward for the team. Low risk because if he does act up, Jim won't put up with it and neither will the team and will cut him fast.

If he does have a chip on his shoulder (the one to prove haters wrong) he'll perform. And holy crap, he still runs 4.4 40 at that ageo_O

Whatever keeps him from getting a Super Bowl ring is fine by me. Whiney little bitch constantly crying about not getting his ring. Assclown about sums it up.

Agreed. This is low risk/high reward. A lot of people are comparing it to the Braylon Edwards thing, but I'm not. With last season's lockout, Smith and Edwards had limited time to get acclimated so were already at a disadvantage.

Edwards is a punk with stone hands that's not a fraction as good as he thinks he is. Moss is a punk...but at least he can back it over a career of records.

I like the signing.. hoping the FO goes after another WR still though (Meachem, Garcon, Robinson).

Hold on-Peyton Manning throwing to Randy Moss at the 'Stick? Somehow doesn't fit. May be a winning combo, but I'm not feeling it.

I don't think Peyton is even in the talk, never was, just fans and analysts wishes.

I agree with the low risk vs high reward. $2.5mil is cheap. At the very least he will stretch the field until he proves he can no longer play. The CB and Safeties will have to respect him as I'm sure his hands are still decent and he's 6'4".

I don't think his attitude will be an issue either. There aren't a lot of strong leaders on offense (maybe V.Davis and Gore) but the defense has Willis and Justin Smith. Those guys aren't going to put up with any crap and neither is Harbaugh. They'll just cut him if it doesn't pan out. They cut Edwards at like the end of the season even though they had no other decent WR.

Now if they can get a QB that can actually toss it deep, convert more than 20% of his third downs, and maybe finish a few drives in the TD instead of FG, they should be superbowl bound. - 29.4% 3rd down conversion...only team worse was the rams. Saints were 56% btw - Browns and Vikings were 38% to give you context.

If I was a SF fan, I wouldn't like this.

Good luck getting those other guys, they will be in Denver with Manning before the week is over.

This could be a potentially good thing. I like it.

Maybe Alex Smith suddenly becomes Drew Brees next season (like how it took Brees 3 seasons, end of contract, and Rivers on the bench for him to finally show up).

Haha! I kid!

Why don't people like it if they are Niners fans? B/c Moss is a "cancer"? That's been addressed. Have you ever seen or heard Harbaugh?? The dude is beyond intense. He isn't going to take $hit from Moss. While it's true he might not be in NFL shape yet, he's better than Crabtree, Josh Morgan (actually he was coming along OK before he got hurt), Ted Ginn Jr......are you serious, Kyle Williams?? It's like a bunch of midgets running around out there all 6' or under.

It still doesn't address their biggest issue which is QB though. I don't care if you have Calvin Johnson out there....Alex still stinks. WR position is overrated in NFL IMO. Get a guy like Manning and he can throw to anyone. Heck he made Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie seem decent.

True Randy Moss might be looked at as an upgrade to San Fran, but I still wouldn't want him on my team. He takes too many plays off and he'll never change, Crabtree already takes plays off so now you'll have a couple guys there like that

Word is out now that the contract with Moss is no guaranteed money on a "show me" contract.

awesome.

It's local news, so I'm not seeing any confirmation online right now. So, SF signs him to a minimum deal, with show me clause!

"Moss' deal with San Francisco is worth $2.5 million, and he has incentives that could bring its value to more than $4 million, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."

This changed?

no, it hasn't changed. local NBC affiliate said that it's "show me" contract, meaning: no money is guaranteed. 4mil is the value of the contract. If he sucks, then he is paid nothing of what his contract is worth.

Again--I haven't seen this online anywhere, so I have no idea how true this is. could be some local yokel desperate sports dude spreading rumors that make it to the local desk quite easily.

Receiver Randy Moss will count just $1.75 million against the 49ers' 2012 salary cap after signing a one-year deal Monday that includes no guaranteed money, a league source told CSNBayArea.com.

Moss, 35, agreed to the contract within hours after taking part in a workout in which coach Jim Harbaugh threw him passes at the 49ers' team facility.

In addition to a base salary of $1.75 million, Moss will earn $46,875 for every game he is active on the 49ers' 46-man roster -- a possible $750,000, if he plays in all 16 games. Moss can make another $1.5 million in incentives based on playing time, receptions and being named to the Pro Bowl team.

So there is no guarantee. He is still making 1.75 mil base, plus a per game bonus and incentives bonuses. But from I understand, they can cut him anytime and not have to pay any more of the contract.

I assume if they cut him in week 8 for example, he'd make 1/2 of the 1.75 mil "base" (since there are 16 games) and then $46,875 per game for $375k more. I don't know for sure though.

I think basically what the no guarentee "show me" contact is saying is that he doesn't get the rest of his contract if they cut him during the season (or anything if they cut him prior to week 1)
