I've learned the hard way that shopping for tools requires some effort and time. Not all 19.2v drills are created equal, and not all Porter Cable 19.2v drills are created equal. This particular model has a 1/2" chuck, which not all of them do. Otherwise, IMHO, it's kinda pricey. I have a Sears Craftsman 19.2v drill that you can get for under $100 with a light. It only has a 3/8" chuck, if that's important, but otherwise has lots of torque. Porter Cable has a solid reputation. Is it worth that much more? Opinions may vary.

i'm a milwaukee man myself. porter cable/dewalt/makita are all on par too. i prefer milwaukee's sawalls and so i went for their cordless system.

makita is the best cordless drill around. hands down.

as a carpenter i use my stuff everyday. most people don't need 18v or higher. its heavy and for the casual user its overkill. stay with 14.4 unless you use it very frequently...

anyway - enough of that.

Lowe's B&M has these for $199. I've been looking for something in this range as well. This morning I found a Ryobi
18Volt Cordless Drill Driver Kit, Model: #HP1802MK2, SKU: #840961 at Home Depot for $99 on clearance.
