Yeah Valve's marketing department is run by geniuses. First they get people to pay them actual money for cosmetic items in a first-person shooter, now they've convinced people that buying more stuff will make them release an upcoming game faster.

Portal 2 will release when they want it to, and it will have nothing to do with how many games you buy or how much you play.

I pre-ordered 2 copies for in-store pickup at Best Buy for $35 each. I'm pretty sure those don't unlock until Tuesday regardless, so when I play Killing Floor tonight, it won't be because of potatoes, it'll just be because.

All you need to do is run a game in idle in the background and the individual bar counts you, which ultimately counts toward filling up the main bar - as explained in here... http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1837442

Why? Valve is simply rewarding people for pre-ordering directly through Steam. If you bought the game through other means, just sit back and chill. I'm sure you can stand to wait a few more days.
