Portal 2 coming to the PS3...along with Steamworks, CRAZY!!!

"When the PlayStation 3 was introduced, I was the one of the platform's biggest critics," Newell said in a statement. "However, Sony Computer Entertainment has proved that the PS3 is the most open platform of all the current generation consoles and has worked extremely hard to make the platform the most desirable for consumers and developers. As such, we are delighted to announce Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3 and believe the Steamworks support included will make it the best console version of the game."

This is pretty huge. I think we're seeing a corner being turned here when it comes to Valve/Sony relations. It can only mean good things down the line.

I'll still be buying Portal 2 on the PC, but I like this.

The Steam is going to be a nice touch...we'll see how long this one is though, because I'll be damned if I pay $60 for a 2 hour game like Portal.

I'd pay $60 for Portal alone. That game gave you a feeling rarely felt during gaming (another one would be Braid) - accomplishment. Worth full price.

I'm getting the game without a second thought. As for the comment - I'd say this is just a statement meaning that PS3 will have Steamworks included, probably not the full extent of it. And Xbox 360 won't. No biggie, I'll be getting it on PC anyway 😀

Portal 1 was little more than a glorified tech demo...don't get me wrong, it was extremely badass, but thus far Portal 2 easily has 10x more game atmosphere. And depending on how the multiplayer/co-op feature pans out, it could be a very killer title well worth $60.

Granted, if they're going to provide it through steam for the PS3, then I wouldn't expect it to be any more expensive than the PC version. I also wouldn't be surprised if it had native USB keyboard/mouse support for the PS3.

Such an abrupt change, wonder if Sony is supplying some of the talent to get things running on PS3. I have a feeling Gabe's wallet is a lot more stuffed now! But the more people that get to experience this stuff the better.

Well one of the hurdles for PS3 support from Valve was the fact that PS3 runs a version of OpenGL. I doubt its a coincidence that Valve just released Steam and several Source games for Mac a couple months ago when we consider that Macs also require OpenGL for its games.

This is great news!

I was really bummed out thinking I'd have to play this on my 360, I can't stand the controller compared to my PS3.
