Well, I'm honestly surprised a quick Google search doesn't turn up the answer to my question. I'm looking for something pocket-sized with a physical QWERTY keyboard for taking notes or writing when away from my laptop. Netbooks are too large; I've had an iPad and a Galaxy Tab but found onscreen keyboards to be contrary to my preferences; pencil and paper is obvious but I'd like something compatible with Word... am I describing a BlackBerry? I'd hope for something less expensive and sans cellular.

Thanks for your time!

EDIT: e.g. Is there a modern version of something like this with WiFi?

Hey, wow! That's the right kind of idea. It could be clamshell or candy bar just needs to be able to work on notes and writing while fitting in a pocket comfortably. Is there anything... ummm... cheaper and still current?

Thanks!

Any recommendations on what is usable and affordable in that market? I'm not particularly experienced with smartphones. Thanks for the tip!

I say just get used to typing on a touchphone. These days, I can type must faster on a touch phone than on a QWERTY phone.

Hmmm...

Well, I am a Boost customer now, as long as we're getting into that $100+ territory, what about the Curve?

I've never owned a BlackBerry, do they have a word processing app and could I easily transfer between PDA and laptop? Any connectivity with DropBox or GoogleDocs?

Thanks for all the help!

I would suggest an unactivated phone as well but you might even look at a wp7 device since it will have native office (vs paying for an app on android assuming you use microsoft office).

It also has one note integration which might be really what you are looking for if you are wanting to take notes....
