Portable CD Player Needed

My daughter wants one for Christmas. Hell, I'm still using my old Sony Walkman. What's the latest and greatest in the world of high tech these days? Portable CD player, I assume? What the heck is an MP3 player? Help, please, for the technologically challenged.
And a good place to buy something online gets you a date with my sister-in-law.......all of her!

I recommend Panasonic stuff.. most new portable CD players also will play MP3's.. i swear to god its hard to go wrong thesedays.. i was looking through best buy and the stuff is all pretty good.. honestly!

Get an IRiver SlimX. They have like almost non-stop skip protection, can play mp3 cds, last a long time, and look cool.
