Portable barcode scanner for ~$7 shipping/tax for CRN subscribers

I ordered mine a few weeks ago and it works great. I'm sure there are some pretty cool uses for it. Check out http://www.symbol.com/products/consumer_systems/consumer_cs1504.html for more info on this product (It's a Symbol CS 1504 scanner). You can use this through http://www.airclic.com and http://www.wuliweb.com.

Looks like you have to have a subscription to CRN for this 🙁 For those that do, here's how to get it free:
1. Go to sign up
2. After signup, log into wuliweb
3. Click on the Get a Free Scanner link when you log in
4. Type in your subscriber ID (first 9 digits above your name on your magazine)
5. Fill in shipping info and pay shipping/tax

I believe this was free when I did it; that's too bad they're charging shipping now. Also, I was able to successfully enter in my subscriber ID again this time even though I already received a free scanner. So maybe you can find someone's subscriber ID and use theirs. Looks like a good deal if you can get it.

OK, I feel bad for all you, here's the first 9 digits of a Subscriber ID:
xxxxxxxxx (I had to delete it bc it looks like it was going to bill me, sorry guys)

oh MAN, this little gadget could be just the thing I need... I wonder if there are any hacks?

If it will scan any barcode and store up to 150 numbers, that is JUST what I need for my book inventory stuff!

Where are you finding the Subscriber ID?

The search can't find me and I haven't given them my mailing address, so that's not coming anytime soon either.

He made the assumption that we all get this magazine....if we don't getta da magazine, we don't getta no scanner....give us the sub id vortix....ain't going to hurt you since you already got the scanner.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot.

I must not post dumb things.

Hehe ...
I must not use copy-paste.

For sure, if anyone wants to sell me the chance to buy one of these, I would be very appreciative. I really, really need one of these.

Can't everyone's free CUECAT P.o.s. do the same thing? I know there's programs out for it for use in inventory.

I planned on converting mine to scan barcodes for mp3's from a book to add to the jukebox playlist. that'll be a blast.

--edit-

oops - bad me. Didn't notice the "Portable" line. 😉

This scanner is wireless when scanning....then you connect it (USB) to your pc.....much nicer than CueCat. At least that is what I gathered from the webpage.

This is TOTALLY off this topic, but I'd like to thank Fiddy for the Celebrex info in your sig! I have a sis-in-law on Celebrex long term therapy and actually we both thank you for enlightening us. She will most likely now being changing therapies. Begin flaming now....

yeah, this scanner is wireless, keychain sized, and stores 150 upc codes in memory which you later upload to your system via USB. PERFECT for what I do - field scanning merch.

Zwingle, the model I got came with a serial cable, which actually won't make too much of a difference anyway since it's sending a relatively small amount of data.

Vortix,
You'd best delete that code. It appeared as though you would be billed when I tried to use it. I did not complete my order.

Shoot, I went with the order and it says the confirm is being sent not to my email address, but to and...@yahoo.com. Hope it doesn't ship to your address. Let me know if you get the confirm.
