I recently purchased the port replicator for my sony vaio S260 notebook. I use my notebook for class lectures so i bought a port replicator so i don't have to unplug my power, lan, usb devices everytime i pack my computer. I was just wondering whether or not i have to completely shut down the computer before i remove it from the PR. Is it bad if i only put it in standby and then remove it>?
 
I have an older Sony Vaio PCG-R505CT. I'm running XP Pro. When I click on the start button, there is a button to "undock" the PR.
