I have a BEFW11S4 - EtherFast® Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router w/4-Port Switch at home... I set up my ftp using serv-u ftp and opened it up on port 345. My internal ip addy is 192.168.1.149. I went into the port forwarding function in my router and said forward ports 344-345 to my internal ip and even ports 20-21. Whenever i try to connect to it say from work that is just using a linksys router it get all the way to the end and then cannot establish socket or just plain fails at the end, but you can tell it connects... It keeps saying that it is connecting SOCKET... and then times out.... Is there a setting on my end i need to tweak with or a setting on the home end ? ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot. I can also be reached on icq at 31312815. THANKS AGAIN!

Does your ISP block certain ports? Does your workplace's firewall block any certain ports?

I had an FTP server running on 21 until my ISP implemented a policy that they'd been meaning to do for some time, and that was close 20, 21, and 80. So the server's running on a different port. Unfortunately, we have the firewall set here to block the incoming port that my FTP server uses for the data connection. My outbound requests to connect to the server go through just fine, but it is not able to establish the complete connection because of the port blocking on the return side.

My suggestion is to set the FTP to receive on 21 and try connecting with that. Your workplace is most likely blocking all ports except those commonly used for business... 80, 21, 20, 53, 25 and a few others.
