Hello everyone, thanks for reading my post. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help me. Alright, so here is the situation. For some reason, when I try to test a port for P2P torrent clients it always fails! Here are my stats:

O/S: Windows XP SP2
Firewall: NAT, Zone Alarm Pro, Windows Firewall(Disabled)
Router: D-Link DI-524

I have gone on all different how-to's and port forwarding websites and whatever else possible to make my download speeds go faster and for some reason whatever I do my ports are closed regardless. Through the virtual server I would put the port with my ip address and it still would not work. I even followed this how to on creating a static IP address and than I would do the virtual server with my ip address set to the static ip that I created to open the port. I tried to allow incoming and outgoing UDP & TCP ports of the port that I chose for the torrent client in zone alarm and still no luck. I would do everything that I thought was possible to get this to work and still no luck. It's up to good ol' anandtech forum to give me some light. Does anyone know how I can solve this? What am I missing cause everytime I test if the port is open it always fails...please help me!!! Thank you for whoever that replies.

Is the router directly hooked into the Modem? You may need to open it up on both the modem and the router. You may want to provide more information on how you connect to the tubes.

Be sure not to try to test Port Forwarding from INSIDE your own network. It usually won't work. Folks waste hours or days trying to get Port Forwarding to work until discovering it was working all along, but they were trying to test it from their own network.

How do I make sure I'm testing correctly? I'm using this website to check: http://www.canyouseeme.org/

The cable internet is hooked up to the router into the WAN port through Ethernet. How do I open up the port on my modem?

I just checked my connection and completely forgot that my mom's friend came over to my house and rewired my network. Here is the thing, I have VoIP now and completely forgot about it. I have a separate linksys VoIP box and have no idea how to configure it. So I rerouted my wiring and first it was VoIP [internet] into Cable [internet] and VoIP [ethernet] into Router [WAN]. Now it is VoIP [internet] into Router [LAN port 2] and Cable [internet] into Router [WAN]. My mom told me the connection is bad if it do it my method, but I have no idea how to configure that VoIP box. If anyone knows please let me know. Using the rerouted wiring opened my port and everything works great. However, my phone service might start to suck. So again thanks for everyones help and thank you HermDogg for giving me that thought to check my actual connection. If anyone knows how to get into my VoIP box, I'll be checking on the post periodically. Thanks again!

Bad News, for some reason when I start checking to see if the port is open, it says it is closed. Rebate Monger, you said that I might be testing inside my own network? Maybe my port forwarding is working and I am doing a wrong test because I'm able to connect to local and remote users, but when I test the port it says it's closed. I might be wasting a ton of hours, but I need to know if the port is open. By the way this is for P2P torrent stuff, so I'm trying to figure out why my listening port won't open. When I connect my computer directly to the cable modem my port testing says it's open. So that means the port is open on the modem. Now when I connect to the router and router to the modem it worked before, but i don't know what I did and now it is closed again. I changed my static IP and used that ip for the port forwarding in my router settings. I tested the port and it still is closed...For some reason I can still connect to remote users though...anyway does anyone have any idea what I could have changed by accident. This is really pissing me off...Thanks For the help everyone!
