Wow Marshallj, talk about beating a dead horse. Using your arguement, why in the world would anybody buy a Boxster at all?
If it was always up to the numbers, the world would be a boring place. You remember farfurgnugen (sp?). Well, Porshes have it too.
Again, I can tell you from experience that American cars just don't have it in the handling dept. I've driven Corvettes, I've driven Callaways and Malletts. Brute force is what they're about, no finesse at all. And yes, they will generate some obscene skidpad figures (due to oversize rubber) - but usually when they reach the limit they break loose and come around in a pretty rude way. A Porsche is much more predictable - if you know what you're doing. They tend towards trailing throttle oversteer (911) - but the flip side of this is that they have tremendous grip coming OFF the corner. Hey we're talking about limits here, and you need to know what your doing if you're driving a car at it's limit. The Porsche is different, and I can tell you more rewarding to drive.
Have you ever actually driven one?
