I think porn has been both good and maybe bad for me, personally.

For one, I think with out it, I wouldn't have been exposed to as many positions, ideas, and things to do in general in bedroom.

However, I think that it gives a lot of men unrealistic and unfair views of what sex is. Every dude thinks unless they have a 9 inch hammer, that the girl isn't going to like it. Similarly, most (full) scenes last 30-40 mins and include a long BJ, and maybe 25 mins or so of non stop penetration. For most men, that is just not really obtainable (while sober..) It obviously depends on you and the woman, but I think in most things I've read, the average sexual encounter lasts about 15 mins, including all foreplay and actual sex.

I think overall, men should view porn as entertainment, and not gospel. I'm just finally starting to do this, after years of it warping my views. I think it's done irreversal "damage" to me as far as my standards and views, but I don't think it's really for the negative.

no girl or boy ever grew up wanting to be a prostitute.

no girl or boy ever grew up wanting to be a garbageman either, but if we made laws based on what little kids wanted to be when they grew up, all professions other than fireman, veterinarian, astronaut, and marine biologist would be illegal.

I havent hurt anyone. Havent wanted to hurt anyone. My fantasies arent sick or creepy. I dont look for more shocking things. Teen lesbians are just fine for me.

Says the man with the kitten avatar.

It's ok. I like kittens too.

There has always been an interest in porn, going back to when the photographic camera was first invented. In the '50's, '60's and early '70's it was magazines and 8mm film then with the invention of the VCR the porn industry literally exploded, now you could rent or buy hours of porn and watch it in the privacy of your own home, before there were X-rated theaters where one had to go but many did not want to be seen in "that" part of town. I worked at a VCR tape rental place, porn was about 50% of our rentals, now we have the internet in where the amount and variety is staggering and 2-3 mouse clicks away, maybe a computer can be "locked down" so porn sites cannot be viewed?, I don't know how effective it would be though, kids have a way of getting around parental controls. I guess IMO the only real downside is young teens exposed to limitless amount of porn will wind up viewing a female as a sex toy and not a person or will spend so much time fapping to all the fresh porn he will not bother to try and initiate a real relationship until much later than normal.

Funny thing in the VCR age that "room behind the curtain" became "that" part of town.

See title "why i stopped watching porn" ok moderately interested... see video length of ~15 minutes... fuck that shit :\

Gonna ask this in here vs start a general thread. Can you post explicit pics to reddit without violating their rules? Serious question as I don't poke around on that site, but a friend of mine said some very intimate pics of her would up there.

That depends on the subreddit. If your friend is posting explicit pics to Reddit it's probably in something like /r/gonewild.

No, she's not posting them. She claims a mutual acquaintance of ours found them there. Can you search that folder by post date or by category?

So men back then were forced to develop relationships with the opposite sex if they wanted to get some action. Today all you need is your hand and maybe some lube.
This is only true if you believe that masterbation is a good replacement for actual sex. I don't think that even with HD video we can convince our lizard brains of that. Masterbation is a fine physilogical release, but in the end it always leaves us yearning for the touch of another person.

It can't tell the difference if a mate is real, or an image on a screen.
Citation required. I doubt this.

When it comes to teenage brains, excessive porn use leads to pruning of neural pathways that seek out healthy relationships in exchange for artificial ones.
To believe this you have to believe that we have pre-existing neural pathways that seek artificial relationships. I don't think there is even a theoretical model that would support that, much less evidence.

Your brain has rewired itself to believe that this is normal.
But, all studies show that this IS normal.

The darker side is the men who attempt to transfer their porn fetishes to real partners.
Only dark if non-consensual. A bigger problem would be the transfer of the belief that women don't like sex and must be coerced, or bribed, or be using it as a tool. That doesn't come from pron though, that comes from mainstream media.

There real problem is the greying between fantasy and reality. Some folks just can't tell the difference.
This is an argument against fiction in general. If we are to take this seriously it is the violent action movies we need to get rid long before we start to worry about people having some problems with their sex life.

Physically speaking, excessive fapping has also been linked to low testosterone levels. Which is probably why so many addicts feel like they've gained "superpowers" after they quit.
This is just flat out wrong. It has been well studied and masterbation directly increases average testosterone levels in both men and women.

Cambridge University released a study earlier this year showing similar brain wiring between drug addicts and self proclaimed porn addicts. It's been getting more media attention as well now that legitimate studies are corroborating the theory.
fMRI studies should be taken with a hefty amount of skepticism for now.
But even if those studies are completely correct what have we learned from them? That addiction is addiction, no matter what you are addicted to. It has been well known in psychology that anything can be addictive in the right circumstances.

Now that's not to say all men who watch porn will become addicts. It's like alcohol. Some people can have a drink once in a while and they're fine. Some drink compulsively. Like all addictions, it's rooted in other mental health issues. They're trying to fill a hole in their lives. In the case of porn addicts, it's not necessarily sexual either. Many addicts report lower overall sex drive.
Alcohol addiction is largely genetic and physiological. Alcohol makes neurochemical changes in the brain that takes time to return to homeostasis. Porn on the other hand will be a psychology addiction, basically an unwanted habit that has become compulsive. One of the worst things that pop psychology has ever done is equating these two very different things.

On the other hand, non-addicts/casual porn users have to understand that porn addicts do exist, that they have a legitimate problem, and that help should be available when they seek it out.

Unfortunately some don't survive thanks to a rather lax attitude towards job safety. Sure they test their performers for STIs, but look at the kerfuffle over condom regulations in California. No other industry would get away with that without big lawsuits.
No of course not. It is not like we would let oil industry use incredibly destructive processes that pollute air and ground water, or cause earthquakes.
