WASHINGTON (CNN) ? Another major American industry is asking for assistance as the global financial crisis continues: Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis said Wednesday they will request that Congress allocate $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.

?The take here is that everyone and their mother want to be bailed out from the banks to the big three,? said Owen Moogan, spokesman for Larry Flynt. ?The porn industry has been hurt by the downturn like everyone else and they are going to ask for the $5 billion. Is it the most serious thing in the world? Is it going to make the lives of Americans better if it happens? It is not for them to determine.?

Francis said in a statement that ?the US government should actively support the adult industry's survival and growth, just as it feels the need to support any other industry cherished by the American people."

Well, it appears that every lobbying vulture in the world is here in DC with their hand out. Obama has already admitted to Trillion-Dollar deficits to come.

So, what the heck is another $5 Billion?
 
There have been some really hot gals making it into the industry lately....a definite benefit of this whole economic downturn 😀 If Flint needs a few extra $$$ to continue getting them to take their clothes off and get penetrated then I don't see a problem. Its money much better spent than on GM, AIG, or any other recent TARP injections

I get the feeling that Flynt is doing only to making a point of the ridiculousness of bailouts while Francis is too stupid to realize it
 
I think that this is a political point, not an actual attempt to get $$ for a bailout. Flynt has been notorious for such stunts, many of them quite effective in displaying the ludicrous nature of our government and social standards.
 
That's nonsense. There will always be people willing to pay to watch people have sex, and there will always be people willing to have sex on video for money. Even if the entire adult entertainment industry goes bankrupt today, there will be a new one tomorrow.
 
People. Seriously. Do you really think Larry Flynt is doing this for any reason other than to get a huge amount of press? He's Larry Flynt, it's a media circus, he loves it.
 
This is what happens when the government regulates industry excessively. American porn companies can't dream of competing with foreign porn companies with inhuman working conditions where workers must perform in more degrading acts of sex. Porn tariffs are the only answer.

Of course he loves the press, but there is much more to some things he does, like this. Flynt is a patriot in his own way.
