would you want your daughter doing porn

hey if my daughter wanted to do it... id support her...

there is nothing wrong with sex... and at least in the industry they are safe about it.

Sex is so closely tied to intimacy, which is a good thing for society, that I don't think it would be a good thing for your daughter or anyones daughter. It makes them view their self worth based more solely on their looks and their sexual ability and not who they are as a person. It makes men view women's value based more solely on their looks and their sexual ability, and not who they are as a person. I submit ATOT as evidence. People don't realize this at first, and they may even just do it for the money, but it does skew how they view themselves, and definitely how they think others view them. Because of this, they will put up a mask of what they think people want to see and not how they truly are, not with everyone, but no one should need to put up a mask of who they really are. Going into this industry could stifle some of them from realizing their true potential to help others and do other great things in life. Sex is an intmate and wonderful act, but it doesn't really contribute to society in any grand way. Without the intimacy, we would enter into Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.

I would not want my future daughter or son, for that matter, going into that industry for this reason, as well as other reasons. But I also know that this is a thing that you cannot prohibit. Neither is it something that people realize about the industry. Prohibiting drives these things underground and makes it harder to regulate basic human rights and control, and would only put the money and power into the hands of sick and corrupt people. Is it a bad industry? Yes. Is tobacco a bad industry? Yes. Am I in a position to judge anybody for their choices? Nope, that is between you and G-d.

I think porn is fine once a kid becomes a certain age. Its an easy outlet for all that sexual tension that builds up when you are hitting puberty 🙂

once you are in a committed relationship, i think its time to pitch it and stop watching/downloading. however, like szliao said, its not too bad for those 13-17 with sexual tension.

it can break a committed relationship up, but there are, like all things, exceptions to this. some people think it adds spice to their relationship.

in my case, i erased all of mine months ago when i became very committed to my fiancee. she said she really appreciated that 🙂 no more for me, don't need it anyway 😉...

Pornography exploits nakedness, and it makes God furious! (Ezekiel 23:18)[/b].

hope this helps

edit: I'm a preacher, sorry if my post seems too esoteric.

Ezekiel actually used the word pornography back then???? 😕

Anyway, the wife and I enjoy porn once in a while. It spices up the sex life, and it helps create deeper and deeper trust (maybe that was a bad term to use in this context).

Several comments I suppose:

1) From a Biblical point of view, anything that causes lust for something other then your married spouse or God/Jesus is immoral.
2) Viewing illegal types of pr0n (kiddie, snuf, etc.) is flat-out bad and simply against the law.
3) If pr0n becomes so addictive that you stop working, studying, dating, making friends, then it's bad.
4) If pr0n becomes so addicitve that you ignore your spouse and children, quit making love with your spuse, then it's bad.
5) If pr0n causes you to have violent fantasies/desire to rape, etc., then it's bad.

But if one views pr0n in the safety of his or her own privacy or views it to enhance a sexual relationship and does not fall into any of the above categories, then I think it's okay. Still immoral, but okay.

1) So it's ok to lust for God and Jesus? 😛
2) Agreed
3) Stop working? What if you work in the porn industry?
4) Making love with my spuse? Sounds dirty when you say it like that.
5) Agreed.....though technically, it'd be better to fantasize about them than to actually do them.

I think porn is great...I like to watch it with my spouse... Get some great ideas that way... Yes the honeymoon is still going, just like the energiser bunny.

Boy, you HAVE been gone far to long.

FTW = For The Win

Anyway - my $.02. Anything that objectifies and degrades women is a bad thing, and porn is the worst offender. You have to ask yourself if ANY of those women in porn movies feel good about themselves in any way. I emphatically say "no".

+Conversely, free for the masses (at least the masses with internet)
+Makes lil' Schade happy

-Objectifies womenfolk
-Their ubiquitous nature enforces/maintains the archaic puritanical attitudes towards sex maintained in this culture
-Makes internet searches impossible on certain topics ("Hmm, let's look up some recipies for cream pies on googOHMYGAWD")

I'd say it's good.😀

lol @ the cream pie comment ...

*imagine good ole' julia child (if she was still with us) screaming "oh heavens to besty!" from the den on her apple imac*

OH GOD. *Now imagining Julia Child getting a cream-pie*.

DAMN YOU GOOSE.

DAMN YOU TO HELL!

Unless you're a woman in porn, you can't really say. What about other 'iffy' jobs like criminal defense attorneys, SCO lawyers, animal testers, etc. As with any job, I'd think some are proud of it, some don't care, and some hate it.

🙂 I guess we can agree to disagree. I guess it is just the way I was raised. I don't think I can see myself enjoying sex without already being intimate with the person. But I am a virgin, so I don't know squat other than what I read in books (including the Bible 😉, but don't knock it till you read it ), and what people tell me, and what I have seen. It isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it something I am willing to wait on for my wife. No big deal though. After I get married though, Kama Sutra time 😉 😛. Just slightly kidding. 😉

I do agree with you and Val that the U.S. is way too restrictive about certain things because they mix personal morals with social morals. The underground sex trade business is terrible, and should be stopped, but the only way to feasibly stop it without impeding on everyone liberties would be to not restrict it, and then control the legal businesses through sanctions, so that human rights aren't impeded on. Plus, it definitely is a way for the government to gain capital. The Japanese feudal system understood this and operated on this premise, I believe the Netherland did this in the Renaissance, too. Personally though, I think that stuff can slowly poison and desensitize minds, but whatever. It isn't like I haven't seen it myself (any guy my age has).

**EDIT**
BTW, this reminded me of a joke I heard.

A Seminary Student studying for a Masters in Theology was taking his final exam and presenting his dissertation all on the same day. He kept praying, "Rapture now, G-d, rapture now." But on his wedding night a year later, he prayed, "Hold on G-d, cancel that prayer." 😛

I know lametastic, but just reminded me of that for some reason.
