Being a Bush Admin regulator was a bureaucrat's dream job. The less you do, the more the boss likes it... and anybody dumb enough to not get it the first time around gets a bad evaluation... Even zealous go-getters get beat down after awhile, or they just leave...

Free Market! World Economy! Ownership Society! Self-regulated banking! Rah! Rah! Rah!

And at the same time they get to say, "see look how bad government is". All nicely planned out. Doin a nice job there Brownie!
