Porn and a public libraries responsibility to censor?

I'm a member of our town's library board of directors. A couple of years ago we had the exact same debate, somewhat acrimoniously with a couple of the so-called "conservatives" resigned in protest.

The policies our board adopted are pretty much what rahvin and vi-edit suggested and they have worked out well. The most effective policy is having the computers right out in public display. Our computers the general/adult area have no filtering on them whatsoever.

Frankly, I think the problem is that this lady is using the library as her kid's babysitter.

The library in my hometown makes anyone under 18 get an "internet card" which is signed for by their parents. The library has no filters, but the cards are an agreement much like the one vi_edit proposed.
