During the years of Republicans running Congress there was a federal agency to track pork. Well Democrats reformed the system by getting rid of it. Find the Pork

(excuse the fox link but I haven't found any others yet - I guess its non-news to the non-biased media) - yes thats a poke

troll

btw a Republican criticizing pork is the best laugh of the day. The Republicans just got thru breaking every record for pork in their years in power.

I would like to hear their defense personally.

Of course neither side will stop until it is made illegal to insert pork into bills which have nothing to do with the original bill.

Shivetya has been denouncing both parties due to pork spending, just because you are a partisan hack does not mean that everyone else is.

The only trollish post I see so far is yours. I see you have resorted to shooting the messenger rather than addressing the topic.

Faux News recently had a brief expose about Robert Byrd being the king of pork for West Virginia. The Republicans currently in power obviously were good students of the master.

and the Republicans recently introduced into the Budget subcomitte a means to keep tax cuts while cutting programs and fully funding Social Security - one has to wonder, why didn't they do this before?

Easy : The party in power figures it owes nothing to the people who put it there. It just took 12 years to teach the republicans that lesson

True. It seems that only the party in the minority try to espouse any kind of principles. We're going to watch the Republicans try to appear conservative again now that their out of power. Conservatives will believe in them once again, while Democrats become disenfranchised with all the broken promises of their party, and then the process will come full cycle.

Obviously that agency wasn't accomplishing much during the Republican years.

Sadly this is true and the reason I think a third major party is so necessary is so that no single party controls over half of our congress or senate.

Could it be because an agency designed to track pork is...pork itself? After all, it's just TRACKING pork, not doing anything about it. I'd say the establishment of rules for earmarks is a much more important step in reducing pork than having another government agency.

Pork should be a felony

Anyone who puts pork riders int a bill needs to be immediately suspended from congress and all political duties

This seems more of a HUH???? than a story.

Gibson start gibbering about a unnamed agency that was closed down. Then Colburn rambles about the CRS, Congressional Researchg Service.

Classic FAUX non-news.

"Democrats have shut down the agency that actually identifies who and what last-minute information is being slipped into a bill. "

Yes it is hypocritical of the Republicans to all of the sudden take a stand against pork, it is also hypocritical of the Democrats to completely ignore it.

all the agency was supposed to do was track it. and they did that. what do you want, for them to step outside of their authority?

keep in mind that tom coburn, the particular republican in question, has always been against pork, so he is not hypocritical.

You're right, they are doing more than completely ignoring it, they are promoting it.
