I've got all the spyware on my system removed but while I was at a site called Decent Downloads I was getting popups. Should I use proxomitron or a pac file?

I'd use Internet Explorer coupled with the Google toolbar. :D

Both Firefox's and SP2 IE's popup blockers are far better than the Google toolbar these days.

Google has worked flawlessly for me ever since I've had it, so I guess I never visit any questionable sites .

Google worked great for me too, but I have found some (legitimate) sites / ad servers that have found ways to get around it. I've rarely had an issue with Firefox's blocker, and SP2 IE's seems pretty solid as well, although I haven't used it enough to know for certain.

There are a few known ways around Mozilla's popup blocker, but the developers are constantly fixing them.

Thanks, I'll give Admuncher a try. Hopefully it's easier than Proxomitron and better. Do you use adblock as well and where can I find a good block list?

I used admuncher exclusively. Actually, my trial finally ran out so I either have to shell out the cash or try to circumvent whatever stops me from reinstalling. It isn't that much so I'll probably buy.

You can add your own filters, and set it so certain sites are not touched. I would say it was 99.9% effective against popups (any type), maybe 80% banner ads with the filtering it came with.

EDIT: This is also browser-independent. It doesn't matter what is loading a page, if you have filtering on adverts will be removed.
