I do feel like im living in bizzaro world when people call him humble and a champion of the poor though.
The catholic church is worth something like $4trillion and a lot of that money comes from poor people donating. Poor people donating to an organisation thats worth $4trillion! I'd argue that the catholic church is a net drain on poor people!

Outside of fiction, there was a well-known book written about it. I gather the conclusion was that, contrary to the conspiracy theories, he wasn't murdered...but he did kind of die of neglect, because everyone in the Vatican was too busy politicking to notice how desperately ill he was.

I remember that time I was a child going on a trip to stay with family - on the way out the newspapers had front pages about the Pope having died...came back a month later and the newspapers all had front pages about the Pope having died. I recall being very confused by that.

Popes, American Presidents - they all seem to be close to death by the time they get the job.

I always have trusted God but I have not always been faithful to the Commanments.

Then there is prophecy. When Jesus said one day the Jewish great temple would fall no one believed. But it did. And it was because the Jews tried to stage an uprising against the mighty Roman Empire. The temple was destroyed decades after the prophecy.
