Reminds me of what Eddie Murphy said about when the Pope was shot:

"And they shot the Pope. I mean, who would shoot the Pope? What's your intention in shooting the Pope unless you're saying, 'Look, I want to go to hell and I don't want to stand in line?' I mean, whoever shot the Pope, they'll say to him, 'You shot the Pope? Get in the express line.'"

People are nuts 🙁 I'm not Catholic, but I believe in respect for other people as a general rule of thumb to go by, and physically attacking an old man just makes no damned sense to me. But yeah, sounds like this lady is grade-A wacko.
 
Heard this on the radio yesterday, apparently the Pope has several priests trained as personal body guards and they didn't catch this lady in time.
 
Maiolo, 25, is the same woman who tried to attack the pontiff on Christmas Eve last year, Lombardi said. She was detained by Vatican police and then taken to a mental institution, he added.

While I don't condone the woman's actions...

silly fucking Catholics...the amount of worship and importance they place on the Pope is nuts...besides, with all the terror and destruction the Catholics have caused in the world over the past millenium...occasionally they need a bit of "comeupance." 😛


My disdain for the Catholic religion is second to my disdain for the Mormon religion...maybe third...with Judiasim being in first place.

Im Catholic and Im glad Pope Benedict wasnt hurt. But with nearly 7 billion people in the world, the amount of crazy people running around out there will only increase.

No matter how much you hate someone or something thats no excuse to behave the way this nutcase did. How long before some crazy person tries to kill Obama?

What if she isn't crazy? What if the 7 billion people in the world are all crazy and she is the sole sane person sent here by God to enlighten us?

To me it looked like those body guards got to the lady EXTREMELY fast? He came out of nowhere to tackle her! I know that is their job, but think about how many times he walks by people with no incident - so to not get preoccupied and still have that much attention always is pretty cool.

I'm the glad the Pope was not hurt.

Cool story: My grandpa actually probably saved the Pope's life: when he was in Europe at the end of WWII, his company was detaining a bunch of members of the German youth army. Many of those youth wanted to abandon their uniforms and flee. His company told the children to keep their uniforms on until everything was sorted out - they would be free to go in not too long. If they had removed their uniforms like they had wanted and fled, the not-yet-surrendered German soldiers would have shot them (as they did with many others). Yup.
