I use chrome on all my computers and only on my mac do I get these pop-up tabs for mac keeper and what not? I dont know why or how this happened but I assumed if I got adware that it would affect all my chrome browsers?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesnt help. What do I do?

Ad/Malware is system specific. Are you seeing MacKeeper pop ups in other BROWSERS on the SAME system?

Ok, regardless, are you see stuff like that in the other browsers on the same system?

Are you using Adblock or similar in Chrome or other browsers?

I dont think I get it with other browsers from what I can tell...but I definitely dont use other browsers often

I'm not in front of my Mac, but I know the PC version has an extensions menu that may contain some malware ladened entries. It's on the same settings page where you reset Chrome. On the left, click Extensions and see if there's anything unusual in there.

So I had removed all of them except the Google doc ones. Still get it.

Some thoughts…

- Test other browsers more extensively to see if it is just Chrome or not.

- You could try creating a brand new user account on the Mac and see if Chrome does the same thing. (Don't sign-in with Chrome when you try this)

- Does this happen when one of your tabs is on a particular site? I am thinking a specific site is generating the pop-ups, not something on your system. Testing other browsers would help here.

Finally, I know you use Chrome but do you also have Flash installed on the Mac and is it up to date? Also, what type of user account are you using, a standard or admin account? If you have an old version of Flash installed and use an admin account that would increase your odds of getting hit with malware.
