pop up messages after winxp installation? Help!

My buddy just installed Windows XP, Norton AV 2003, and Norton Firewall..


he is getting pop up messages that say he has to go to a web site and request the messages to stop, which he has been hesitant to do....


Any idea what these are?

Uhm, you have to disable windows messaging or something. It's just netsend pop ups.

1) Right click on MY COMPUTER
2) Click MANAGE
3) Go to services
4) Find MESSENGER....
5) Disable it..

You mean spam using the Messenger service?

Go to services and stop and disable the Messenger service.
