I need a new pop up killer i was uning Analog X POW but sence that started to kill my IE windows when i didnt want it to i got rid of it and dont feel like configureing it again. so does anyone know of any other good free pop up killers out there???? and where i might get them

The Proxomitron is an excellent ad proxy server. All web traffic is filtered through and ads, ad links, and popups are blocked. It's also very easy to configure and disable if you need as well. The "cool" programs thread sticked at the top of this forum has some other good links too.

are any of the freeware popup ad stoppers able to be set so auto popups dont appear but clicked javavscript windows do open?

<< Try popup stopper from panicware >>

That's what I use. Not that versatile but it works great for my basic purposes.

FOBSIDE,
The proxomitron's filters are pretty good, so clicked windows will come up when you want them, but ads won't by default. Even if it's "overfiltering", you can disable it in two clicks, although I've never needed to...

What does Mozilla do to filter out popups? (Hope 1.0 comes out soon, RC1 doesn't seem to like my PC)

Another vote for Pop Up Stopper. ZoneAlarm 3 also handles 'em. AdSubtract is another non-free proggy which really takes care of all the annoying crap well.

To bring in some variation to suggestions I use PopUpCop. Few reasons why:

- The main reason: it sits in IE toolbar and not in system tray
- prevents sites from resizing IE windows and lots of other nasty stuff like sites disabling right mouse button etc.
- I can create lists to allow popups from certain sites
