pop up ads from hell!!!!!!!1

I keep getting these evil pop up messages. IE doesn't even have to be running. I get about 1/hour. The problem is, I like to play NHL 2004. When I get a popup during gameplay, everything freezes and I have to do a hard reboot.

I have run Spybot and Adaware. I have google toolbar.

Nothing will stop these f'ers!!!!! One popup that I get is for a piece of software that will keep your clock synched. It seems to actually be making the time on my PC about 10 minutes fast....very annoying.

any suggestions?

I dunno.

But make sure you have Windows messenger disabled or removed from your computer.

Also try Firefox browser for a short time and see if that cures the problem.

What does the window say? My guess is messenger but could be IE. If it is messenger you need to disable messenger service. It is in control panel>administrative tools>component services. click services local and scroll down to messenger and set it to manual or disable.

remove all the software you dont need from add/remove (like clock synching), and check msconfig...lots of spyware likes to hide there and adaware and spybot dont alter those settings..
