Glad to see they give George the same respect in Australia, as we do here in the United States.

Funny his only retort is asking if the world is a better place w/o Saddam in power. What a lame-o. Where are all those weapons of mass destruction that he said Iraq had overwhelming numbers of? Talk to us when you find them, George!

Bush Heckled in Australian Parliament

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer
October 23, 2003

CANBERRA, Australia - Heckled inside and outside Australia's Parliament, President Bush offered a pointed answer to those who say the war with Iraq wasn't worth fighting.

"Who can possibly think that the world would be better off with Saddam Hussein still in power?" Bush asked Wednesday as he wrapped up a six-nation lobbying campaign to reinvigorate the war on terrorism among Asian and Pacific allies.

Bush told a divided Parliament that the war in Iraq was right and inevitable, but that Americans and Australians "still have decisive days ahead" and that the broader war on terror could be long and drawn out.

Well, at least the guy's evenhanded!

Either way, that is a really rude way to treat a foriegn dignitary. Save the heckling for regular sessions of Parliment. Ever watch PM questions? Parlimentary governments are great. So much more excitement, shouting, fistfights etc. Japanese Diet really knows how to go at it.

I like how Bush blatantly ignored the one guy whose father has been locked up in Gitmo for the last two years without charge. What a POS.

:D

Maybe that's what we need here. People might pay more attention if political debate more closely resembled pro wrestling.

I love watching the British parliament in session, some of their scuffles are priceless. I can just sit there with a bag of popcorn and a beer. Great stuff.

funny thing is the world isn't really a better place with Saddam out of power, heck it really doens't effect the world much outside of th US and Iraq and it hasn't done any good for either of us. granted, if plans go well that should change in time, but as for now Bush's argument is baseless.

And that's news? I seem to have misplaced my surprise.

Hell yeah it is, although I haven't seen any good ones lately - all the action these days seems to be in Asian legislative bodies - all out brawls complete with furniture tossing! Pass the pretzels! ;)
