That article is interesting from a historical perspective, but Nintendo is currently kicking as$ sales-wise, with Zelda, the new Gameboy SP, and Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.

i like how teh GC looks its nice and compact. unlike teh XBox which coudl be used as a boad anckor.
My xbox looks sexy on my home theater component rack, and it matches. :p

Anyway, I agree that MS has way better marketing going for them. They market to the 18+ crowd and it seems to be working quite well for them. One of the biggest selling points for me is that the Xbox is the home theater enthusiasts system. 99% of games are progressive scan, a great portion are 16:9 widescreen, every game is Dolby Digital 5.1, and now games are coming out that support 720p progressive (equivalent of 1280x720 resolution) in 16:9 widescreen. That's just HOT! A nice pair up for the 50" HDTV I'm purchasing in a few weeks!

I'd be interested in seeing that video...doesn't make much sense to me they way you described it.

A) GameCube, unless you have the Panisonic one, doesn't read DVDs (so you'd need an emulator I guess)
B) GameCube discs are different from cd/dvds, in that the information starts on the outside and is read inwards, the opposite of a normal CD/DVD. So the information would be messed up for a DVD burner...

The Big N definitely thought this one through..

I have no hardware modding skills, but I'd like to see what they did just for curiosity's sake. Any chance of a link?

I thought the Xbox also starts from outside in. That didn't stop anyone.

P.S. The Gamecube really stands out in my home theater setup. Its looks fugly compared to my Xbox and PS2.
